skeleton sirens

I awoke to the sound of an alarm going off, perplexed by the grey curtains that hadn’t been there before.

The lip of my right shoe snagged onto the bottom of the seat in front of me.

Everything was suddenly so bright even though I had just been engulfed in my slumber a few moments before.

Tiny pools of blood puddled onto the surface where I sat. I imagined a hole - deep as bone.

Adrenaline ran through me and all I needed was a course of action. My words began to spill and my only concern was a sense of security.

The scenes were confusing and my thoughts needed to be clear to drown it all out.

I gave you my sweater instead when she forgot that I only had my shirt on. It was enough to stop the bleeding before the ambulance arrived.

I wonder if the sins I could’ve confessed were worth all of that trouble.
